The 6 Series offers a quiet cabin, so you and your passengers can ride in comfort at any speed. Different seating configurations are available across the lineup, offering seating for between four or five occupants in multi-contoured, leather front seats that come standard. The available luxury doesn’t stop there, with different models offering a variety of comfort and infotainment features that cater to your level of luxury. Automatic dual-zone climate control is standard, and the standard infotainment system features HD Radio, satellite radio, Bluetooth, a USB port, wireless phone charging, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and BMW's iDrive infotainment system with a 10.2-inch display screen and navigation. The iDrive system is user-friendly as well as responsive.
Safety is more important than luxury, and the BMW 6 Series has safety covered with standard driver assist features that include adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors and a rearview camera. Additional safety features are included or available, depending on the trim selected from the available BMW 6 models, each of which features its own engine.
The BMW 640i starts off the model range with the most fuel-efficient engine option: a 3.0-liter intercooled turbo V6 that delivers 315 horsepower with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This is the only model in the lineup that doesn’t include a V8 engine. To the standard features indicated above, you can optionally add heated rear seats, driver assistance features like blind spot monitoring and a head-up display, and a Harmon Kardon audio system.
The first model to offer a V8 engine – a 4.4-liter that delivers 445 horsepower – is the BMW 650i, and the engine is the main differentiating factor from the 640i. You can choose from the same available features as with the 640i model, but the 650i comes standard with the Harmon Kardon audio system, and also includes 20-way power adjustable front seats.
The BMW M6 revs things up with a 4.4-liter V8 engine that brings 560 horsepower to the road, and it’s the only model that offers a choice between a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic transmission. It includes all of the 650i’s features, and adds quad-zone climate control comes standard. Available features include a Bang & Olufsen audio system, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and the optional features from all lower trim levels.
The BMW Alpina B6 xDrive is the top-of-the-line model in the BMW 6 Series, so it’s only fitting it comes with the most powerful engine: a 4.4-liter V8 that delivers a whopping 600 horsepower. The features otherwise echo those you get with the M6 trim.
